LLyn Tegid, Bala
Bala, a small market town for the local farming community and a centre of the Welsh language and culture has a beautiful setting on the shores of Llyn Tegid, the largest natural lake in Wales and home to a rare species of fish, 'y gwyniad'. Naturally the area is well known for its watersports, white water rafting and get-wet activity. A narrow gauge steam train also runs from the nearby village, Llanuwchllyn for a nine mile journey alongside the lake.
